How You Can Help

Hope Hopes Needs Volunteers

We are so grateful to our community of volunteers. We welcome contributions of time and talent. There are many opportunities to serve in this rewarding and meaningful work, to include (but not limited to):

Volunteer Activity Time Involved
Big Book Study Groups:
Be on the rotation for leading this meeting.
1 hour
No more than once per month
Hope Homes Board Member:
As an Advisory or Executive
4-8 meetings per year
Other activities as events and committee meetings and as available
Enrichment Group:
Lead a class on cooking, nutrition, movement/ dance, sing-a-long, communication, or a topic you are interested in.
1 to 2 hours
No more than once per month
Job Skills:
Helping residents understand how to seek work and prepare resumes, interview with prospective employers, dress for the interview/ job, and keep a job.
1 hour
No more than once per month
Field Trips:
To activities in the Atlanta area like the park for a picnic, the Laser Show, Centennial Park, Bowling, Movie, Swimming.
2 to 4 hours
or one day
or an evening.
Public Relations/Speaking:
Speaking to churches, organizations, businesses, agencies, and foundations as requested and attending Mission Fairs - Beth and Wick usually attend these but are occasionally unavailable.
Speaking visits are usually 2 to 4 hours each while Mission Fairs are usually during regularly scheduled Sunday morning or Wednesday evening church activities.
Grant Writing/ Development:
Coordination with Beth on research, writing, follow-up of grants to foundations and agencies.

Yard Work:
Trimming, raking, pruning, etc.
One time weekly for 1 to 3 hours throughout the year.
Thank You Letters
As needed
Organizing Donations/Clothing
4-6 hours monthly
Sponsoring Residents:
Be a temporary sponsor for new Hope Homes residents.
As needed
Stuffing Envelopes
Usually 2X yearly for 1 day for mail-outs
Newsletter:
Design, writing, mailing with staff support.
2X per year for approximately 20-25 hours each over a period of 2 weeks
Supervising Capital Projects
As needed
Mailing List Development:
Gather mailing and email addresses of Hope Homes alumni and families.
As needed

Hope Homes is proud to provide the highest quality transitional living environments in the Atlanta area. Our operating costs are offset by the generous donations of individual and corporate contributors, and allow us to continue our mission of bringing recovery and healing to the lives of the individuals we serve.

On June 13 Executive Director Beth Fisher Hatch visited CIBA Vision's corporate headquarters in Duluth, GA to receive gifts in kind of personal items for the Hope Homes Women's Program. These items were generously donated by the Women's Networking Group of CIBA Vision, represented by Michelle Prince, Director of Human Resources.
